Kendall Cody (SHP `11), a current Stanford University student and her sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta is participating in a philanthropic fundraiser event in the form of a 5K/10K walk/run through Stanford campus on October 26.
Theta is proud to host multiple events a year to fundraise for Child Advocates of Silicon Valley (CASA). CASA mentors and speaks for the 170,000 abused and neglected children who have been temporarily placed under the supervision of the court system for their own safety. CASA pairs individual children with trained volunteers who represent them in court and support them through an arduous court process, ensuring that each child will grow up in a healthy, safe, and loving environment.
Our largest fundraising event is called Theta Breakers, a 5K Run/Walk and 10K Run around the Stanford campus. Stanford students, faculty, alums, and community members join together and participate in the race to support CASA.
Over the past twenty-five years, the Theta Breakers 5K Run/Walk and 10K Run for Children has raised over $250,000 for Child Advocates of Silicon Valley. We annually have the most successful philanthropy event of any greek organization on campus. You can learn more about CASA by visiting http://www.cadvocates.org. This year the race takes place on October 26th at 9:00 AM at the Stanford University Pac-12 Plaza.
I would greatly appreciate it if you would consider running the race this year. You can sign up to race either the 5K or 10K by visiting http://www.active.com/stanford-ca/running/races/theta-breakers-2014. Or you can donate directly to Child Advocates of Silicon Valley through this link http://www.razoo.com/story/29th-Annual-Theta-Breakers-Run-For-The-Children.
Thank you so much for considering my request! Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about Child Advocates, Theta Breakers, or Kappa Alpha Theta.
